Perception, Perspective, and Potential - Lorraine Voss
Presto! Consider the pervasive perspectives of profane politicians with potentials to fixate the position of people’s assemblage points in an attempt to permeate, and pervade reality without permission.
The penetration of pointless propaganda that promotes poisonous points of view is poised to perpetuate perplexity while placing us in the predicament of a precarious plunge into a pestilent existence.
Putting us in peril of a state of platitude, we pause to ponder this illusion of persuasive power.
If you find this paragraph to be puzzling and perplexing, just remember it’s possible to promote a positive and persuasive paradigmatic permutation of peace and profundity beyond the patterns of puppeteering.
Patience and persistence are pertinent as we poignantly and poetically persist in a pragmatic manner to prevail in pure perception. ~ LV
When we become aware of something through one of our senses, to include our sixth sense of intuition, we perceive; we become aware of something. Our ability to perceive provides us with a way to interpret and understand our world. How we each perceive differs vastly based upon the conditions that shaped our reality. Enter in perspective.
Perspective is our point of view or opinion about something. Perspectives provide a frame of reference that allows us to filter perceptions in order to create meaning. We do this based on our particular frame of reference that is unique to each individual based upon our attitudes, values, culture, or belief system. Perspectives allow us to discern, reason, and form opinions to determine appropriate, as well as inappropriate, responses to people and situations. These perspectives lead to penetration.
Penetration is an extension of one’s perspective or influence into another. It is an act of power that has the potential to greatly impact a person, society, culture, or nation. Penetration may be carried out as a mutual understanding or consensual acceptance where multiple parties reach agreement and conformity. It may also be presented in a subtle, coercive manner or as a plain out attack. This penetration of thought infiltrates people’s minds and puts them in the mode of pro, con, or neutral about the perspective that is being offered.
A perception that has turned into a perspective that penetrates the thoughts of people has the potential to become pervasive. The perspective that exists regarding a specific perception now has the probability of wide-spread belief which serves to greatly influence people. As the pervasive penetrating perspective that was born of perception spreads quickly it often become accepted as the norm, even if it is not favorable, and has the potential to permeate the minds of millions, like the spread of a virus. All this from a single point of perception.
Rather than living within a state of fear, dread, anger, confusion, distrust, and all of the many other adjectives that can be used to describe the current state of our existence, consider a perception – a point of awareness – that is free of the predatory evil of mass corruption and consumption, and that has an equal opportunity to prevail and overcome.
We are that point of awareness and unlike a terrible plague or virus being unleased onto the population, we have the opportunity to become human Mycelium, a network of fine white filaments (energy) reaching outwards that works as an antidote to remedy out-moded, patternistic behaviors. Our spread of collective higher consciousness has the power to detoxify seemingly resistant attitudes and promote new growth. We are the mycelium.
It may be that we are puppets – puppets controlled by the strings of society. But at least we are puppets with perception, with awareness. And perhaps our awareness is the first step to our liberation. ~ Stanley Milgram
Disclaimer: I don’t associate with a specific political party.
In the words of John Trudell, I’m just a human being trying to make it in a world that is very rapidly losing its understanding of being human.
Once you learn to discern the voice of Mother Culture humming in the background, telling her story over and over again to the people of your culture, you’ll never stop being conscious of it. Wherever you go for the rest of your life, you’ll be tempted to say to the people around you, “how can you listen to this stuff and not recognize it for what it is? ~ Daniel Quinn
I have come to realize through my life experience that the more I think I know, the less I actually know. This is a good thing, a very good thing. I don’t have as many opinions as I used to because I have come to know that everything is true, right and correct, at least from the perspective of the person who holds those perceptions. And that’s okay; it is, after all, their world, their creation, and we can’t possibly know what they’ve been through or what they are doing to maintain that perception. And unless they ask, there is nothing we can tell ‘em.
We humans become so fixated on how we need to create ourselves or what we need to become, always seeking something outside of ourselves to believe in, to give our power away to. We are obsessed with getting it right and are hard on ourselves when we are not in so-called balance or living up to the ideals of so-called masters. We cling to our ideas of what awakening, enlightenment, and freedom that are often based on the teachings of the Buddha, Castaneda, Jesus Christ, Zen Masters, Allah, Bodhisattvas, etc. We compromise each other’s state of being by assuming to know where someone is at and what they are experiencing. We cast doubt upon each other by questioning the reality of others and then we may even have the audacity to tell others that what they believe in is a lie.
Our freedom is contingent upon our ability to remain awake and fluid, to not become bound by ideas, stories, and patterns. All of the paths in the world have the potential to enslave us, to turn us into followers of specific protocols, doctrines, or dogmata, many of which are detrimental to our natural existence within this beautiful and constantly changing web of creation. It is when we decide to belong to a specific membership that we adopt the ideas of another which carries the danger, for a warrior, to act from a point of reason. Structured and limited beliefs ultimately lead one to inadvertently uphold tons of judgements against those who believe differently.
A warrior cannot have the luxury of following people’s ways, nor can he be a reactionary, because his freedom means to exercise other alternatives. ~ Carlos Castaneda, Encounters with the Nagual
We work so hard to become aligned with our perspective of liberation through the teachings of our favorite guru that we rarely consider or seek or are open to that which resides outside of those parameters. We judge each other’s progress, evolution, and levels of awareness cynically and are bold enough to think we know when, how, and why someone needs to experience growth, do more work, have a healing, choose a different direction, stuff their emotions, etc. And we judge ourselves.
We must recognize that it is our aim, as warriors of freedom, to go against the grain, to free ourselves from the preconceived ideas and patterns of how to live in the world.
To exercise other alternatives, as Castaneda said in the above quote.
The only thing I know with certainty right now is that the things that are buzzing around in my mind are there because of what I experience, create, and how I perceive my reality. In our creative, individual, diverse paths within this magnificent gift of life in human form, it is just fine if we, by another’s definition, are perceived as wrong or right, wounded or whole, enlightened or non-enlightened. There are no labels, dualities, illusions, delusions, descriptions or goal posts that can define or limit an individual’s freedom. And, we cannot possibly make anyone understand what we see or what we know, we can only share our stories in freedom and stand as a witness to the individual stories of others. Our ultimate freedom comes in giving others the right to their own reality, even if we do not agree with what they have created.
When a warrior learns how to toss self-importance aside, his spirit unfolds, jubilant, like a wild animal liberated from its cage and set free. ~ Carlos Castaneda
Keep dancing!
PS When I first read this I though it was like a charade, and a game to find all kind of words that began with the letter "p", but then I realized that there was a message of real value to our awakening.Yes, as I mentioned elsewhere, we only know about the World we perceive, but what about all the other Worlds that are beyond our own perception?
How would an ant perceive us?
How would a cell within our own body would perceive us?
How can we ever know that we know all that there is to be known?
Even for those of us that had walked within our own inner World, and are aware of the multi-dimensional reality that we live within, what about what is even beyond all of that?
How can we ever be completely aware of this Universe or what may be beyond it?
That is my question...

Great post. I wonder how our perceptions are formed. I mean, how do we select, out of the myriad of impressions that reach our senses every second, those few that we pay attention to? Or to say it differently: why do we pay attention to some of what we perceive, but not to the rest of it? Who selects it and based on what grounds? How can we direct our attention?
I know my attention goes somewhere, but I have no say in where it goes. Something grabs my attention and I re-act. But why do some things grab my attention in this way while others dont?
Those are (some of) my questions :-)
Well, this is not a simple reply to give.
We must train ourselves as to where to pay our attention.
This is done through much work, although very worthwhile work.
First of all we must learn to stop being reactive and that could be a lifetime task.
Through meditation we can learn to know ourselves a little bit better and get to know what are the things that we tend to be reactive to.
We have to learn what is useful for us and what is in sync with what we desire for ourselves, and we have to learn the distinction between the different energies that our thoughts carry, and the kind of things that, therefore we attract into our lives,
It is a whole science of living and we must follow it to be in control of our own selves.
What you say makes sense to me. I also like the idea of calling it a "science of living", which is something we never learned in school or at home. But I guess I get the main point in your answer. Thanks for the reply :-)
