I've had many experiences with the paranormal. I'm an energy sensitive and can sense ghost energy in places usually as soon as I walk in. Especially if that spirit is in any way unhappy. But this discussion is about happy spirits and a restaurant that my brother used to own in Lake George, New York.
I worked for three summers in this restaurant and had almost nightly visits from the spirits that didn't want to leave the building. One of them, I think, was the builder and first owner of this building. At least that's what I sensed. The building was over two hundred years old. These ghosts/spirits played games with me which did nothing to scare me which I assume is what they were trying to do. Mostly I just felt they were bored and were trying to see if they could get a reaction out of me, especially at night after we closed, and when I was the only one in the building.
One of the most memorable of these events happened one night when I was closing out the books for the day, I was the night manager. I used to turn the stereo up as I finished my daily chores and counted out the register this was usually around eleven at night. It was summer time so many of the windows were still open. I would close them when I was leaving for the night.
And on this one particular night as I was working with the calculator when suddenly all the power in the building shut off. I looked around to see if any of the stores across the street still had power, which they all did, so I knew it was just our building. I sat for a couple of minutes being a bit confused about what had happened when I suddenly got an impression about the stereo. Remember, I'm an energy sensitive. I looked up at the ceiling and said, "All right then, I tell you what, if I promise to turn the stereo off." That's as far as I got. The power suddenly came back on and I most certainly did turn the stereo off.
The next day I found out that the people who were staying in the cabins that were very near the restaurant came in to thank us for turning the stereo off because it was keeping them awake. And for a few days I turned the stereo off right at nine when we closed.
Postscript to this story: A few days later as I was doing my nightly chores, and it was getting late, I looked up at the ceiling and asked, "If I turn the stereo on, as long as I promise to keep the volume way down, would that be OK with you?" The power never shut off after that night or any other night during the summers that I worked there with the stereo on very low. And none of the people in the cabins ever said anything about the stereo being to loud again! I'm pretty sure that the ghosts were looking out for them! But I always wondered, if the spirits could turn the electricity off in the whole building, why didn’t they just turn the stereo off themselves?

Interesting tale and I can imagine even spirits enjoy their quiet time.
There were reports of a spirit that resided in a high ranking officers quarters at an old post we were stationed at back in the 70s. The spirit was believed to be the widow of an officer who died of disease while living in the house. She would turn the electricity on/off to one corner of the house in the living room. The Army corp of engineers came and inspected the wiring and found no issues. Finally at the persistence of the residents they upgraded the wiring in the entire house. Still that one outlet would only work when it wanted too. Other phenomenon was also reported but the power being affected is what really stuck in my little kid brain.
Makes ya wonder about the "ghost hunter" theory about spirits using water, electricity, and even certain minerals as conductors to aid in manifestations.
Hey Ogrin, I worked at that restaurant for three summers, so stay tuned. I have more stories of the activity that I encountered while working their! Those spirits and I seemed to hit it off! In a way I kind of miss them because we developed a bit of a bonding relationship!
