stream of consciousness poem... reflections on a rainbow

The rainbow over my street today

came bright and brilliant

in the asphalt scented air

as the rain brought the perfume

of the sun

from spring warm concrete

 

It climbed high

above the biting branches

of the cruel monkey tree

carving arcs of luminous colours

rich like ribbon candy

across the stormy sky

 

Twinning itself

in pale reflection

as if it wasn't glorious enough

once

creating an encore of delights

across the wind etched sky

 

Clouds moving with cinematic speed

weather confusion

light and water

refracting in a miracle of bliss

a kiss

for my tired eyes
